Dolly Wink Limited Edition Volume Mascara + Eyeliner Review

Not too long ago, Dolly Wink released 2 different set of Limited Edition Mascara and Eyeliner at the price of 1,575 Yen and I have gotten mine from Watsons Singapore at SGD29.90. For once, Watsons Singapore is selling Dolly Wink items at a decent price.

BONUS! I did a video of me unboxing the set and how I look with the mascara. Check it out! ^^

Here is the product picture of the set from Dolly Wink’s official website.

Lovely Tsu-chan modelling for the set. As I was saying, it comes in 2 sets of which the type of mascara is the only difference so you can choose either to get the Volume Mascara Black or Long Black Mascara. Both sets come with an Deep Black Eyeliner. Strangely, Singapore Watsons never bring in Long Black Mascara at all so we are left with the ‘Volume’ Set.

Here is a picture of the product display corner at Singapore Watsons.

Okay, now off to the actual product review :)

Packaging

As usual, we have super BIG Tsu-chan’s face slapped on the packaging as an appeal and it always work on me! I also love the silverish price tag sticker at the top corner. Dolly Wink’s packaging has always been so pretty~!

Here is the back part of the packaging with English Translation and if you are interested in reading, click on the image to enlarge :)

Product Design

Specially for this Limited Edition Set, both product has been repackaged to a metallic purple body and green cap.

Personally I would say it was a rather bold choice of colour combination. I have never thought that green and purple can work quite well but to be honest, I still prefer the original pink body.

Volume Mascara Black Product Description

Koji DOLLY WINK Volume Mascara (Black)

It has a waterproof formula, it can maintain long lasting and will not bloom. Containing curl stereotypes polymer, which can help your eyelashes extend upwards and provide you a curled eyelashes. And your eyelashes look abundance and three dimensional.

On a side note, I really love the reflective polka dots on the wand applicator and it gives off a very pretty reflective shine when you unscrew it out from the body.

This is the design of the mascara wand and I must say that the tapered brush shape at the tip of the mascara wand is really useful to reach for the inner eyelashes! Okay, onto the actual review!

Note: Please note that my natural eyelashes are rather thin and sparse and the picture results of the mascara application below is prior to very light curling using eyelash curler. I believe the results will even be greater with electronic eyelash curler.

Volume★★★★☆
This mascara gives a pretty good volumnious finishing to my sparse and thin lash. In fact, the volume is even more satisfactory to my HG Majolica Majorca’s Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On. And because of the rather good mascara wand design, more of my eyelashes were being coated with the mascara.

Curling Power ★★★☆☆
Personally I feel that the mascara formula doesn’t hold up the curl very well after few hours of wear though the curling effect is actually quite pretty after application. Sadly, the curls weaken at the end of the day for me. But of course, this can be solved with electronic eyelash heat curler.

Lengthening Power ★★★☆☆
Though it is a mascara that provides volume, it provides a pretty decent lengthening effect on my natural lashes. However when compared with Majolica Majorca’s Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On, it pales in comparison.

Formula ★★☆☆☆
It clumps after several application and doesn’t really look that pretty. I wish it has better formula to reduce clumping effect for people like me who need to rely on more application to thicken our sparse eyelash. The mascara does flake and thus leaving black fallouts under my eyes but it isn’t a lot of fallouts so that is still ok for me. Removing it was easy with eye makeup remover so that is a bonus.

Overall ★★★☆☆
On the pros, I think it serve as a pretty good mascara to provide good amount of volume and I love the colour intensity it give to my lashes. However, the formula isn’t as ideal to hold up the curls and prevent fallout so I just hope it doesn’t clump up after several application. I will recommend it to someone who is looking for a new changes to their usual lengthening mascara but definitely not someone who wants to have a mascara of strong and curling power.

Next, we have the Eyeliner review~

Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner Product Description

Koji DOLLY WINK Deep Black Eyeliner

It has a ultra fine yet flexible point tip, which allow greater precision with a easy to handle eyelining experience. The deep dazzling black can accentuate the glamorous eyes of yours, giving you a more defined look. This eyeliner is waterproof, sweat proof and with the quick dry formula, the eyeliner can stay on for hours without a smudge. Your look will be long wearing and gorgeous even without touch-up.

Colour Intensity ★★★☆☆
This eyeliner gives a glossy intense black finishing and if you are someone who likes glossy finishing, this is really the right eyeliner for you. For me, I prefer matte finishing but this is a pretty good alternative.

Staying Power ★★★★☆
Dry fast, good staying power that doesn’t smudge, flake and last hold day. Good stuff!

Brush Tip ★★★★☆
You got to love this brush tip for being flexible to be able to draw fine lines and thick lines with greater pressure. I would say the brush tip makes it a rather dummy proof eyeliner for beginners.

Overall ★★★★☆
I highly recommend this eyeliner to people as it stays true to what it claims.
