Dolly Wink Eyeshadow #03 Country Retro Review

Everyone has been talking about it and there is just too much hype generated because this is coming from the gyaru princess Tsu-chan! When I first read news about Dolly Wink Eye makeup arriving in Singapore Watsons, I was super thrilled but not until I learned about the marked up price :X And I was like saying, who would be so stupid to buy it at this price and I did! oh well -.-

And I must really compliment and give it to Tsu-chan for her choice of eyeshadow colours because imo this is why it became an instant hit! Take a good look at the colours in these palettes and you will realise that these are colours which are difficult to find in any typical Japanese drugstore cosmetics. Bold, wild, cute and sexy colours that are timely for a spring look. If she is going to launch another easy to find colour palettes, most girls would rather go after more well-known and better pigmented eyeshadow brands like Kate, Majorlica, Fasio, canmake and the likes in long run. So she makes bold and brilliant colours such a distinctively cute eye makeup for girls to don! Love it!

And now I wouldn’t talk much about what is in this new range of cosmetics because you probably read it somewhere so I am going to jump straight into doing a review on Dolly Wink Eyeshadow #03 Country Retro Review.

I absolutely adore the package! It opens up like a small little magazine which contains useful eye makeup instructions by Tsu-chan but opening up the paper package was such a chore. Mine was slightly torn at the opening :S

Back of the package

I totally adore their package! There are English instructions pasted at the back. And Tsu-chan looks fierce :P

 Inside

Here are the instructions in Japanese. I like how each colour palette has a name to it. No 03 is country retro and above, Tsu-chan teaches us how to dress to complement this look.

Here is the case

Doesn’t this case remind you of Anna Sui? Without Tsubasa modeling for these colours, I would not be convinced they will look good together.

And a closeup on the palette

The eye shadow gives off a slight shimmery finishing and the applicator, imo, are better than Majolica’s.

So your eyes are supposed to look like this after following the instructions

Application on my eyes. I am following Tsu-chan’s instructions btw

Without eye shadow                           Applying the light blue                  With dark blue as liner

And this is how I looked with eye lashes.

Side by side comparison. My eyes(Left) versus Tsu-chan(Right).

Verdict?

Well, I am mixed here. On one hand, I absolutely love the colour, the buttery smooth texture and slightly glitterish finishing from this palette but on the other hand I hope it can be as pigmented as Kate’s eye shadow palettes. For this look, it took several applications to achieve this colour intensity. The colour did not hold up very well, especially when applied around the under eyelid. However it is possible to achieve the exact same colour and effect as Tsu-chan in the package which is good! The major appeal of this palette is Tsu-chan to be honest.

Overall, this is a palette you wouldn’t mind giving it a miss especially with the hefty price tag. But I am going to try to alternate the orange on my upper eyelid like this

See you!
