Makeup Entry #05: Tsubasa-inspired Look

Hello again! Finally I have gotten down to complete this Tsubasa-inspired look as my #05 makeup entry. Come to think about it, it has been 4 months since I last did a makeup entry! I seriously need to buck up! And yes, I do feel bad about delaying this :/

But anyway, here is the result of my first attempt at creating a Tsubasa Masuwaka-inspired makeup look in this tutorial.

For this look, I am using this Tsu-chan photo below as a reference. In this photo, she is using Dolly Wink Eyeshadow #03 Country Retro Eye shadow which I am also using in this tutorial. Earlier on, I had done a review on this eye shadow so if you are interested, you can check it out here.

Why this look?

  • Interesting Eyeshadow Colour: Orange as a good alternative from pink to create a sweet look
  • Solid Eyeliner Technique: The drawing of eyeliner fills up well on the inner of her eyelid and creates elongating effect
  • Natural Lower Eyelid Technique: The eyelid and lashes gap makes the overall makeup less harsh

What to duplicate?

  1. Intense orange eye shadow liner from 1/2 inner eyelid outward
  2. Elongated lining of lower eyelash from 1/2 inner lid outward
  3. Wide gap between lower eyelash and eyelid
  4. Intense black eyeliner

Before the step-by-step procedure, here is a breakdown of the cos menu (cosmetic+menu):

 Lip:

Others:

Attempted Technique

Step 1: Dab white eyeshadow to brighten inner eye corner

This is so we can highlight the inner corner of our eyes as the corners are usually overshadowed by your nose bridge. Dab a little amount of the white eyeshadow and gently spread the powder in circular motion. Note to use adequate amount of product as you do not want it to be overwhelming.

Step 2: Draw thick lining using orange eyeshadow

Tsu-chan has it appearing like an orange eyeliner and from 1/2 of the eyelid onward so in this case, I am using the Dolly Wink Retro eyeshadow’s sponge tip applicator and I drew a line which extends to as long as my eyebrow goes.

Step 3: Apply eyeliner using liquid and gel eyeliner

If you want super intense eyeliner, I suggest you use both gel and liquid eyeliner hand-in-hand to have maximum effect. I usually use gel before liquid :)This eye makeup is rather droopy so you might want to extend the eyeliner downwards and longer than usual.

Step 4: Wear eye enlarging contact lenses.

Plus! Never forget your contact lenses! Look how different I look with contact lens now.

Step 5: Apply Upper eyelashes

Did you realise how outward I am glueing the eyelashes? Instead of adhering the front part of the eyelashes to my inner eyelid, I am doing the exact opposite: Aligning the outer corner of the eyelashes to the end of the eyeliner. This is because Tsu-chan is using the same technique to create this elongated eye makeup effect.

Do take some time to properly stick them as close to your natural lashes on your eyelid. I will always make sure to close my eyes and check if they are glued nicely and doesn’t flip out unnaturally. Plus, I have concealed the whites of the glue by drawing eyeliner over the eyelash band.

Step 6: Applying lower eyelash

Tsu-chan is using Dolly Wink No 5 lower eyelash but I did not own one at that point in time when I blogged this and so I am using another alternative eyelashes, Diamond Rush Diamond Lash Eyelashes eye DL55104.

But first, I have to cut the end portion of the eyelashes as I need only the thin strands.

And with that, glue the end part of the lower eyelash to meet the end of the upper lash. Remember to make sure not to glue the lower eyelash near your lower eyelid except for the front portion of the eyelash. Note how far apart the eyelash is towards the end of the section.

Personally, I think it is really smart of Tsu-chan to elongate the lower eyelid without the use of eyeliner and simply with the eyelash as this will create a softer finish as compared to lining with eyeliner.

Close up to see what I mean.

Step 7: Apply cheek colour/blusher!

I am using Canmake cream cheek No 9 :) and this is the last step of this look!

Hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and if you need further elaboration on any of the steps, do drop me a comment and I will be sure to get back :D

Have a good weekend ahead:)
