MUSTrend #1: Mode’s High Cheekbone Blush
Hello! Gonna start a new blog section MakeUp Style Trend, MUSTrend, to discuss about trending or interesting make up style that is worth looking at! Interestingly, the words piece up to read like ‘Must trend’ and you know how much love and attention I am giving to Japanese makeup.
Though winter isn’t exactly over but we are already seeing GAL brands in Japan get going with their SPRING concept alongside with make up style. Note the additional style and not just makeup for how much emphasis certain GAL brands are placing on makeup on their overall season concept. Let’s give it to the Japanese for treating makeup like a serious business apart from their super awesome online marketing strategy, which often involves different important figures from a brand to blog about a certain ‘brand lifestyle’ and heavy usage of social media. I hope you know which brand I am hinting at … LOL! Anyway, back to the topic~
Attention to MODE spring makeup concept and it is none other than the …..

HIGH CHEEKBONE BLUSH in Reddish Pink. (Left: Ena Right: Momoko)
My impression? I love it!!!
Ena Matsumoto’s version
BTW, Ena is wearing MAC lipstick in CAPTIVE colour. :D link and link

Ena also did another version of High Cheekbone blush in orange colour and seems like she also created some fake freckles, or it could be due to the lousy magazine scan but that opens up new idea! I LOVE IT! She is not overdoing it and love that she pairs this high cheekbone blush well with nude lippie below.

And momoko~~

She has the most amazing eye makeup ever BTW!
I do think that this high cheekbone blush makes one look more youthful but overdoing it may risk you looking really silly. I guess it also matters that you spread the blusher evenly and directly under your eyes to look the exact like Momoko’s or Ena’s. Else you may look like Erina Abe, EMODA’s Press Assistant (girl in the middle below) which looks like blush in a stripe.

I will definitely try this but with darker tone wig like Ena’s hair colour. I am sure we will see more gals with high cheekbone blush everywhere in Japan soon, if not now.
Side note: I do not think this makeup trend is something new and I notice it looks very similar to AMOSCREAM’s red dab under the eye area. Love how these red blusher application turns out on all these lovely ladies!

MURUA Eyelash Debut
Fabulous news! Momoko, the producer of MURUA, has launched a series of MODE eyelashes worth taking a good look at!

MURUA like EMODA is a fashion line that sets the direction of MODE Gyaru fashion in japan. MURUA I feel have been more darling at stepping into new territories and now they have this whole series of upper and lower eyelashes! And guess what, I like them all!
Here are the product and Momoko modeling shoot of the eyelashes.
3 Upper Lashes and 2 Lower Lashes in total and retailing at 1,050円 each without tax.
MURUA UPPER EYELASH CLASSICAL EYE

MURUA UPPER EYELASH DOLLY EYE and LOWER MURUA EYELASH RETRO EYE (1,050円(税込))

MURUA UPPER EYELASH NOBLE AND LOWER EYELASH GLAMOUROUS EYELASH (1,050円(税込))

If you take a good look at these eyelashes, what runs consistently is how thin and a little coarse-looking(mimicking real lashes) each individual lashes look and so even when there is point focus volume, it looks natural and luxurious. That is quite different from say Dolly Wink where the lashes are so unbelievable perfect to each strand like the one you find in barbie doll lashes.

I absolutely like alternative looks when it comes to fashion, beauty though not straying too far from the mainstream, so I adore both MODE trendsetters, Ena and Momoko’s makeup. I believe their perfect eye makeup lies in heavily lined eyes with really complimentary eyelashes that are voluminous yet naturally thin and slightly coarse at the same time.
Ah, the more I talk abt it the more I desire it! Now that makes me wonder if EMODA will follow suit with MURUA to produce eyelashes since it is almost a standard for any famous fashion people to collaborate with so and so to produce eyelashes. I really hope ena will come up with some eyelashes!!
